Good evening.
I had an idea of what this place was when I accepted the invitation, but my understanding was flawed. It's been several days since we were "invited," but the picture isn't any clearer. If anything, I understand less and less what this hotel is.
We can reasonably assume the staff here is responsible for the poisonings/curses at the spa. At the same time as this, they've been feeding and housing us for free. If they wanted to actually hurt us, there's no reason they wouldn't have already.
There's also the matter of the "wish."
I'm posing the question to all of you to consolidate info. What is this hotel?
Where do you think we are?
Why were we invited?

Like a dream-like space.
But I'm not sure why we were invited...

[ this is deeply plausible to Bruno, who just recently left a very silly soul-swapping situation. ]

I think it's an option, at least!
Though I hope that doesn't mean the people who aren't here are worried about us, if time is passing...

Do you truly believe that the staff were responsible for these occurrences? I suppose the ploy to force people to get to know each other at breakfast would certainly fall under their purview, but I find it premature and perhaps a little unfair to pin them for the rest.
[ She's going to whiteknight her fellow hospitality workers, okay. ]
The reason being... I believe that this hotel exists in its own plane of existence, or perhaps in the pocket of another, but to the same end: the common rules of reality do not apply here. I'm sure that one of the many more proficient and scholarly arcane academics here could explain it better than I can, but because of that...
It's likely that they have no control over some of the unusual feats of this place, either. Magic can be a wild, untamable entity, especially magic that is powerful enough to bring individuals of differing realities together into one place.
As for why we were invited... I hope to discuss this with Mr. Bennet.
Sincerely,
S.H.
ms silent hill...
In any case, my thoughts were similiar. You sound like you have experience with "magic" like this.
[ forgive his less-than-stellar spelling. at least he doesn't blink at the giant wall of text!! ]

I help my family run an inn with some similar features, as far as there being magic involved. Much smaller, and I daresay it is much more peaceful compared to this!
[ there have been NO ninja attacks since she took over operations. just saying. don't ask about how many times a week a tavern brawl breaks out, though. ]
As for magic itself, there are others here that are know far more about its inner workings. You'll likely find more cohesive answers from Mister Gale or Mister Winter. Of course, there's no guaranteed that the same manner of magic is at play here.

As of now we have little to work with, but thank you for getting this conversation started.

Asking him directly is the next step. We'll see if he's honest.

Still, it's the only lead we have. And even in trying to hide something, people can accidentally tip part of their hand.

What happened with the spa day seemed to be largely harmless, in the vein of pranks, but it makes one wonder what else they're capable of.
For my own opinion, I believe this to be some sort of isolated dimension or space between planes. Whoever rules over this realm must be very powerful, indeed, which does mean we should proceed with caution.
Sincerely,
Gale of Waterdeep

Exactly. I'm not trying to be a pessemist, just practical.
That seems to be the common belief. I think it's the most likely based on what I know.
You know a lot about "magic." Is it possible there is no "master?"

I suspect that the hotel is somewhere that exists outside time. It would explain how so many of us seem to come from entirely different eras.
As for the matter of the invitation, the intent seems to be to grant our desires. Whether that is for leisure, a food we would like to eat, or ultimately, a wish... that intent seems consistent. But how far can the hotel reach in granting those desires? Is it something to be wary of? Throughout all time, people have cautioned "to be careful what you wish for."
What also remains unknown is what motivation the inviter has for granting the desires of others. Or, perhaps, it could be that they merely desired company.
Regards,
Giselle

If this place and its employees do exist outside of space and time, it would make sense that they don't understand the feelings of "regular people."
