Good evening.
I had an idea of what this place was when I accepted the invitation, but my understanding was flawed. It's been several days since we were "invited," but the picture isn't any clearer. If anything, I understand less and less what this hotel is.
We can reasonably assume the staff here is responsible for the poisonings/curses at the spa. At the same time as this, they've been feeding and housing us for free. If they wanted to actually hurt us, there's no reason they wouldn't have already.
There's also the matter of the "wish."
I'm posing the question to all of you to consolidate info. What is this hotel?
Where do you think we are?
Why were we invited?

If this place and its employees do exist outside of space and time, it would make sense that they don't understand the feelings of "regular people."
no subject
Although, if those responsible have always been here, perhaps they have never had a chance to interact with those within the flow of time at all.
The theory you have mentioned makes me feel as though the person responsible may be something similar to a young child.
Not willfully malevolent, but not fully understanding the ramifications of their actions, either.
no subject
It's just a theory. [ a game theory ] Child or not, they have a lot of power over us.
no subject
So, they do not have complete control. For now.
But I don't suspect you intend on leaving at all, regardless?
ach... my html
[ he remembers her username! ]
This is more than I expected. I won't take it for granted.
no subject
That fact remains, despite not sharing your exact circumstances...
[ So he won't be alone! ]
Have you found your accommodations to be suitable, at the very least?
no subject
I have.
There's a floor that contains an entire coast line. When I wake up, I look out and see the ocean. It almost seems real.
Have you seen anyone you recognize here, headmaid?
no subject
Anyway, the floor he describes sounds beautiful. She'll have to check it out for sure... ]
No, I have not.
Although, I spoke to a young man who said that he and a classmate of his are here at the hotel together.
Is there someone who accompanied you here, perchance?
[ AXEL_TWO.gif guys from beyond the grave?? ]
no subject
He didn't accompany me, but I saw him here before. I haven't been able to find him since.
[ it's not exactly unusual for Abbacchio to go off on his own and vanish for a little while, but considering the circumstances, Bruno doesn't think it's as simple as that. ]
And there are other people I should see that I haven't.

[ The opposite, really. Because she can understand this writing is public, she keeps it vague, not wanting to inadvertently air out anything he doesn't want explicitly known — or anything that she doesn't want explicitly known, either. ]
It may be that you must wait patiently for those others to make their way to you.
Do you remember what I had written earlier, about being glad that your soul had made it here in one piece?
no subject
[ it only makes sense that it would flow differently here - that said, thinking too hard about the logistics might give him a headache, so he'll just accept it for what it is. They're not in a specific point in time; they just are.
Instead of a headache, her other comment is just giving him concerns. ]
I remember. What are you saying?
no subject
[ That's true for all things that are rebuilt in some way - so it suits her desire to not be too explicit. If he is truly dead, then his soul must have been bound here by supernatural means, or he might have been "reincarnated" in some spiritual way... a feat that she knows is not an easy one. Trying to keep all the memories and things that made that person who they are makes it even tougher. ]
Or so I have heard in legend.
But you seem the type who may have trouble believing such a thing.
no subject
[ he wonders how he should take that... he must seem too serious, too practical, he supposes. It certainly wouldn't be the first time anyone's thought that of him. ]
Souls are complicated. I don't think it's hard to believe. Humans wouldn't fight so hard to survive if life was cheap.
[ he should know... this is the second time his spirit has, somehow, clung together. ]
Why do you know about this?
no subject
I am a servant to a very peculiar house.
[ Which explains everything but nothing at all at the same time. Just the way she likes it. ]
Once someone makes their way back to the manor, they are not always the same as they once were.
It can take waiting...
I imagine the same is possible here in this realm.
[ Whether she's talking about actual reincarnation, spirits haunting the house, or something more physical and realistic is unclear — but she tries to provide an explanation for him regardless, for the fact that those he knows have not shown up immediately. ]
no subject
Provided she's telling the truth, anyway. It's harder for him to tell over text. ]
So you're something like Mr. Bennet, yourself. It's no wonder you were surprised to be invited.
no subject
[ And Mr. Bennet is... certainly higher in rank than a lowly servant. Probably. ]
But perhaps there is some resemblance between us. The house does grant others' desires.
How surprising indeed, hearing about this hotel with a similar mysterious power.

How did you get your job?
no subject
I suppose you could say it was akin to a trade.
[ An 'I get something, you get something' kind of trade, which she thinks is explanation enough. Enough to allude to the fact that she did get something out of signing on to a life of servitude — it wasn't like she was forced into it or had a regular job application process. Allegedly. ]
Might I ask what your profession is, in turn?
no subject
It leaves a lot of questions unanswered, but it does give him context. It was very possible, in his mind, that she was some sort of homunculus, magically generated by her own "hotel" as staff; knowing she's a real person is something of a relief. ]
I collect taxes.
[ technically not a lie. ]
But I'm retired now.
no subject
[ What can he do about tacks evashun while dead, after all.... ]
Yet you now have a chance to take a "vacation" here, no? Are you looking forward to it?
no subject
[ he is absolutely the type to never vacation until the bucci boys force him to ]

A dish you like to eat, a song you like listening to...
Or perhaps there is something you have always wanted to do, but never had time for?
no subject
I wonder where you can find a CD player in this place.
