For those of you who haven't met me, I'm River Kwan, 26/male/fit as hell. Just sayin' 'sup to my fellow guests and dishing out the real important news 😎

I've been sitting on it, but the circumstances with the lava and ice floors, make it pretty clear that major injuries are very likely if the hotel goes whack. No easy vacations for us 😔😔

But, I'm about to BLOW YOUR MINDS 🤯🤯🤯 You got a sprained ankle? Headaches? Experiencing weird symptoms? Any major broken bones or wounds from a possible skeleton army raising itself from Hell into space to destroy us all? Okay, that last bit is just me making shit up but you never know.

LUCKILY, I'm a healer. As long as you don't lose your limbs or other body parts, I can use my powers to heal any major injuries you may incur during your stay here. I'm also a licensed doctor (General Practitioner to be exact) so if you would like a basic physical and wellness check, look out for THIS handsome mug:

Given that we are meant to be on holiday, there's certainly no obligation, and I've no doubt the staff is prepared to handle most injuries and the like adequately, but I imagine there must be a space you can use to fulfill that offer as needed.

No need to make it a full-time engagement, I'm only interested to know that you'll have what you need. Of course, I'm interested in seeing it for myself, should you make such arrangements or find something suitable. I'm quite keen to see how medicinal practices are handled in worlds other than my own, but naturally, you needn't do such a thing for my benefit.

I'm planning to ask management for some basic tools that I use for checkups. They're basic to me anyway, but you'd probably find that a little interesting, or maybe it'll end up being similar. Who knows!

Not at all! We got some cross-multicultural exchange going on constantly in this hotel so why stop there?

For a small preview, a routine physical exam is just checking vitals, weight, height, blood pressure, and the like. A vision check is also standard.

That sounds quite thorough! There are actually instruments capable of measuring a person's blood pressure? Such a thing must effect the way the body functions immensely. It's not something that's examined or even taken into much consideration where I'm from.

Yeah! Being able to monitor blood pressure is super important since it can aid in the prevention of related diseases such as hypertension and strokes. It may not be examined where you're from if those conditions aren't as common.

Some physicians and healers have begun to pay it more mind, but I believe its study is still in its infancy. While our technology is nowhere near as advanced as yours, many ills and hurts being able to be resolved with the aid of a cleric may have delayed some more practical studies among certain groups, as well, but I have always been of the mind that magic and science go hand-in-hand and have more in common than they do not. Practical medicine will always have its place.

Powers like magic and mine can help skip a few steps but it's really important to look into the details and understand the how and why of how the body functions.
And seeing as how not everyone's human, that means the care I deliver also has to be culturally sensitive too.

The same basic principle applies to most things, at its core. One cannot truly solve a problem unless they properly understand how something works, but I would believe it to be even more important when it comes to the bodies and inner workings of living things. Lives are quite literally in your hands!

It sounds as though you are quite passionate about what you do, Dr. Kwan.

i dunno about passionate exactly… But you know, I was born with healing so it felt practical to just become a doctor. That and the academic and practical challenges of the medical path area great way to exercise my mind

Perhaps not passionate, then, but there's something to be said for putting one's gifts to good use. There are some who would squander them regardless of the good they could do.

You're right, however— the mind must be exercised as well as any other part of us, else it be left to wither away! That would be a terrible waste, indeed.
