Unfortunate news. I’m very sorry, but Ringo and I tried to hack into the server in order to try and obtain some answers or at least tamper with the code to prevent things like Astarion’s post from pulling unauthorized photographs of the guests, but…

It seems to have… backfired.

Yeah, so… Figue and I are kind of… stuck right now? Like. In the server. We have actual bodies so this shouldn’t even be possible, but you all know how “impossible” and “this hotel” go together.

It seems we’re unable to escape on our own without a specific word assigned to each of us being typed into the server. However, it’s considered to be “banned” and therefore we’re unable to tell you what those words actually are.

Additionally, the data itself is behaving abnormally. Please be careful.

ooc: So Figue and Ringo fucked around and found out! They snooped into the server and have now been sucked into said server. They’re stuck in there until someone types the “banned” word associated with each of them. Pls help.

Additionally, their hacking has temporarily ruined the server for everyone else a little. Per Squee, everyone will find that when they try to type into the server, they’ll end up spilling their true thoughts instead of whatever they were going to say. Their brain to fingers filter has been removed.

We can all play with this to whatever extent we want to! It’ll linger intermittently for a few days, and then taper off, and your character’s account can just be totally unaffected if you want them to be.

feel free to threadjack and use this post as a mingle for spilling-your-characters'-guts shaped shenanigans! Figue and Ringo will pop in here and there too. ♥

[THAT SURE IS A THING THAT HAPPENED!! and you can bet Akira's been replaying that moment over and over and over in his head, trying not to let his stupid teenage anxieties overwhelm him. but their conversation on the network prior to this had been so easy, so natural, so. . . it's fine, right?? it's definitely fine]

[and his nerves are only eased when he is greeted with a bright grin-- the kind of smile that lights up an entire room. . . and, sappily, the corners of Akira's heart. whatever awkwardness that dumb mistletoe kiss had caused certainly wouldn't be enough to ruin their friendship]

[and if that couldn't ruin it, then. . .]

[Akira braces himself against one wall, allowing his body to drift idly upwards until he's the one hanging upside down with his glasses nearly floating off his face]

It doesn't make you sick? You've got an iron stomach.

[ It's definitely fine. Ryuji has also been replaying that moment over and over and over and over and over, and he knows that it's a little bit his fault that they haven't figured out what it means because it's his fault that they kissed in the first place. But it was the mistletoe, right? It was just the mistletoe that made them kiss. Ryuji kissed a few people, not just Akira, so clearly that kiss is on the same level as the others.

(Except that it's very much not.)

But it's easy to smile at Akira when he shows up and easy to laugh when Akira ends up hanging upside down, feeling bright and amused. He smiles a little dopily in response to his question. ]

Nah. Well, maybe at first but not anymore! I, uh, also try not to eat before I come onto this floor. Like eatin' before swimmin', ya know?

[yeah. . . it was the mistletoe. . . . . . . . . YEAH. . .]

Huh. That sounds smart.

[. . . playfully, he reaches out to ruffle the fringes of Ryuji's hair from his current upside-down position]

Then let's hope I don't lose the lunch I had about twenty minutes ago.

And the blush on Ryuji's face when Akira reaches out to ruffle his hair is also just incidental. Not because of anything, no. ]

[ OH... RIGHT... HE FORGOT. He looks embarrassed for a moment before he doubles down. ]

Y-Yeah, well, the barf makes it clear you haven't learned your lesson.

[the laugh that tumbles from Akira's lips makes it clear that he isn't that fussed about it, at least. his hand drops from Ryuji's hair to the collar of his shirt, fingers pinching the fabric gently, idly, almost as though he isn't quite sure what to do with his hands]

[(the truth is. . . he needs to occupy them somehow, or else he might find himself reaching for Ryuji's hand instead)]

I haven't thrown up yet. So it'll probably be okay.

[ There is... touching happening and it's actually kind of nice and Ryuji doesn't think he wants it to stop so. He, uh. Won't bring attention to it and just let Akira keep doing what he's doing. ]

I believe in you, buddy. This is a no puke zone for sure.

[ Though despite not wanting to bring attention to the touches, he may be floating closer to his friend without thinking about it. ]

[my god, how long can Akira deflect with talk about puking. horrible. this conversation is so stupid]

[but nevertheless, he laughs a little, head bowed so his bangs tumble haphazardly over his head. and for a moment, he's quiet, mulling his words over in his mind before he speaks]

Hey. . . Ryuji?

[hm. that's Akira's serious voice]

Did you mean it?

[ ... Ah, there it is.

Ryuji didn't think he'd get away completely with saying all that stuff on the network and not committing to it. It's not that he didn't believe it or really feel it but it's just. It's hard to say that stuff out loud, especially when it matters.

So, Ryuji looks shy for a moment, ducking his head slightly to avoid Akira's eyes as he tries to figure out what to say. But he doesn't want to lie to Akira, that would be the worst thing he could do. No, he needs to be forthright.

A little quiet, a little shy: ]

... Well, yeah. I did.

[in all honesty, Akira hadn't doubted the sincerity of Ryuji's words at all. Ryuji wasn't the type to lie about his own feelings, after all. compulsive foot-in-mouth syndrome or not]

[. . . but part of him had wanted-- no, needed-- to hear it outside of the context of Figue and Ringo's punishment. so when Ryuji replies, Akira lets out a sharp exhale, squares his shoulders, and looks up again]

[there are so many things that could be said. You're the reason I'm here today. You reached out to me when I needed someone the most. You were my light in the darkness. You saved me.

I would steal the moon, the Earth, and the stars for you.

Every time you smile, my heart skips a beat.

I know what it means when you say that someone makes you feel free now. You do that for me. Like I am free to be the person I was always meant to be with you by my side.]

[of course. . . he says none of that. Akira has never been the most eloquent speaker, after all. and sometimes, less is more, isn't it?]

. . . you know that I love you, right?

[he says very carefully, very slowly, very purposefully]

[ Of course, Ryuji has no idea what Akira is thinking. Those sappy, heartfelt words are not heard by Ryuji. Instead, he thinks they're just being themselves. Warm and good and friendly, as per usual. He's still thinking of the kiss though, still worried that it might change things between them. But it's also has him primed to feel caught off guard when Akira tells him he loves him.

As — as friends, right? This isn't still because of the kiss, is it?

Ryuji swallows and his smile is a little more nervous now, unsure of the direction they're going in. ]

W-Well, yeah! I love you too, man. You're my favorite person on the planet.

[ The praise comes easily enough though because yeah, he does love Akira. Akira is his best friend, his absolute favorite person, he doesn't know what he'd do without him or if he could even be without him at all. He just makes life easier and worth living. Akira knows this though, right? ]

[he isn't surprised that Ryuji takes it in a platonic manner. dear, sweet, oblivious Ryuji. and even then, those words-- I love you too, man-- cause Akira's heart to swell. he flashes Ryuji a bright grin, soft and adoring around the edges, and releases that collar only so he can reorient himself in space. it'd be weird to have the rest of this conversation upside down!1]

Yeah. I knew that, too.

[and suddenly, he's leaning forward, his palms brushing tenderly across Ryuji's cheeks as he presses their foreheads together with a deep, shaky breath]

But I don't mean it platonically.

You are the person I'd want to spend the rest of my life with.

[ Oh.

Oh.

Well, this isn't exactly what Ryuji thought would happen when Akira came to see him. It also isn't exactly what he thought the resolution to the kiss would be. Yet as Akira's forehead presses against his own, all he can think about is the last time they were in this position and just like that, his heart in his throat and he's looking at Akira with wide eyes and his mouth slightly ajar.

Leave it to Akira to stun Ryuji into silence.

How is he supposed to reply to this? His immediate thought is, of course, that he wants to spend his life with Akira as well. But then it's followed with a feeling of embarrassment, of shyness. The idea comes of making a lighthearted joke, make this less serious than it is. But that's when he tries to think differently this time. He can't do that, can't make Akira's feelings seem smaller than they are. He knows better, despite his usual obliviousness.

So, he's quiet for a moment, thinking of how to reply. His hands drop to the front of Akira's shirt, curling into the fabric and keeping him close. He doesn't break the contact of their foreheads, everything in his body language receptive even if he hasn't yet said anything.

Then, finally, after giving it some thought he says — ]

Could we start by being boyfriends?

[. . . the silence continues for so long, and with every second that passes Akira feels a heavy press of weight against his shoulders. is this where he gets rejected? is this. . . where Ryuji clarifies that he meant love platonically all along? he feels a lump form in his throat, and he swallows it down and opens his mouth to speak-- say something, please]

[but then Ryuji does]

[and Akira jerks back in surprise, though his hands don't move from where they are. the heart that had sunk into his stomach suddenly leaps into his throat like a bundle of butterflies, and the very light dusting of pink on his cheeks is quite fetching, indeed]

You--

What?

[AKIRA YOU WERE THE ONE TO CONFESS!!]

[ HE SURE WAS THE ONE TO CONFESS. And his surprise has left Ryuji surprised as well, looking back at Akira as he pulls away. Idly, he can't help but think of how cute Akira looks with his cheeks this pink and his eyes this bright, but that's not something to bring attention to right now.

Instead he smiles, leaning his cheek into one of those palms and tugs Akira a little closer again. ]

We can be boyfriends. For now. But I intend to spend the rest of my life with ya too.

[ The more he says it, the easier it is to say and it's starting to make him feel a little giddy, if he's honest. ]

[aaaaaaah]

[aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah???]

[Ryuji says that so sincerely, so honestly, and-- for once, Akira knows he doesn't mean it as his best friend. for once, Akira trusts in the meaning he reads behind those words. . . and his heart slams against his ribs like a drum, pounding so loudly that it's all he can hear]

I--

[god, he's so stupidly flustered in this very moment, this is unfair!! Ryuji pulls him closer, tilts his head oh-so affectionately into Akira's palm, and all Akira can do is trace those curves with his thumb while he leans in to press their foreheads together again]

[THERE IS, LIKE. NO POLITE WAY TO ASK WHAT HE'S ABOUT TO ASK NEXT, SO--]

I thought you liked girls??

[so, yeah, he sort of went into this thinking it wouldn't amount to anything, which probably explains why he's so suddenly thrown?]

[ See, now that's a bigger question than the boyfriend thing. Because Ryuji still doesn't know what the fuck bisexuality is or rather what the fuck his own sexuality is. He just knows he likes Akira?? And he also did make out with Akechi so... ]

Uh. Well. I do but also not... just girls? I guess?

[ He's giving that sheepish smile of his that he gives when things are a little beyond him. Help. ]

I like you! I like you a lot. And you're, uh, super handsome and I want to kiss ya? A lot? Again? So I guess I have to like more than girls for that to work.

[ Ahhhhh??? Sexuality??? ]

[SWEET, INNOCENT RYUJI. . . Akira can't help himself; he lets out a small, huffed laugh, aimed specifically at himself because all of this time he thought he didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell because of that one time you chased down chicks in bikinis, Ryuji--]

[he knows from his own experiences that something like sexuality is complicated and fluid. if Ryuji doesn't want to think about it that deeply. . . he doesn't have to. it will come to him, in time.]

It's just, for all of this time, I thought-- [mmm. nah. actually, it doesn't matter, and he shakes his head to dispel the thought]

. . . nevermind.

[with one arm twining behind Ryuji's shoulders, he gives the other boy a gentle squeeze]

I'd be-- ah, really happy. . . to be your boyfriend.

[ Oh, Akira is close now. Akira is close and that's... great, actually! It makes Ryuji's heart beat a mile a minute but that's fine too. His arms are going to loop around Akira's waist in turn as Akira gets his arm around his shoulders and pulls him close. Now they're just... floating together.

It's kind of nice. ]

Hehe... cool, then. We're boyfriends now.

[ Holy shit. ]

This is a great vacay, dude.

[hehehe. . . hehehehehehe. it's certainly a much better vacation than Akira could have ever hoped for. and since they're floating. . . if he accidentally twines one leg around Ryuji's to draw them even closer, don't worry about it. it's fine!!]

It's the best vacation I've ever had.

[he can say that with absolute and complete confidence as he dips his chin and--]

[-- pulls back to look up, just to make sure there's no WEIRD FUCKIN' MISTLETOE HANGING AROUND]

[and then the coast is deemed clear, and he leans forward to catch Ryuji's lips with his own. kiss!! another kiss!!! not a mistletoe kiss!! a boyfriend kiss!!]

[ OH!!! IT'S A BOYFRIEND KISS!!!

Ryuji isn't sure what he was expecting when Akira curled closer to him and even after he looked around suspiciously. Ryuji was just kind of basking in the fact that they were this close to each other in the first place.

But he is. More than happy to have a boyfriend kiss though.

He curls his arms a little tighter around Akira and presses in closer, kissing him earnestly. It's a chaste, sweet kiss for now, but he is more than thrilled to be able to have it. His lips are a little dry, could use some chapstick, but it's not like he thought he was going to be kissed today. Still, it's a nice kiss. ]

[it is a chaste kiss, but also. . . just like last time, Akira is diving into it eagerly. he isn't pushing to take it deeper, but he isn't holding anything back, either. this is their first completely voluntary kiss. . . and it's an experience that Akira sure as hell isn't going to waste]

[so if he lingers long enough for his lungs to start burning for air, if he punctuates the kiss by looping his fingers playfully around blonde locks at the back of Ryuji's neck, if he tugs on their joined legs a li'l to keep them pressed impossibly close. . . well. he can hardly be blamed, can he??]

[he's thought about this moment, deep in his most private of dreams, and never in a thousand years did he think he'd actually be living it. but now that he's there. . .?]

[the real thing is even better]
