To my fellow guests:

First, I would like to thank everyone who attended Miss Amelia's book club meeting last week. Please remember to thank her for organizing it!

Secondly:

I'm sure we are all aware of supernatural or occult happenings taking place at the hotel from time to time.

That being the case, I would highly discourage anyone from remaining on the library floor after-hours. For one, it seems to decisively close at midnight, leaving you with no way to return to your suite, but also, it appears that a ghost may be haunting the premises thereafter.

[ or, you know, get trapped on purpose to have your own ghostly encounter (?) she's not your boss. ]

All to say: it may be unwise to spend the night at the library, no matter your skillset or ability or no matter how comfortable and cozy the seating there may be. The library houses many great works from across the universe, and I cannot stress enough the importance of ensuring no harm comes to such a collection. It would be best if we simply refrain from angering the after-hours ghost there.

So... please plan your visits accordingly.

Ser Barghest, I believe there is more to this ghost than simply dealing with it through brute force. My attempts at conversation were unfortunately unheeded, but perhaps there is another way to address this.

That being said, after some time, the ghost did leave me alone, and I do feel as if it did not truly mean harm. If it did, I likely would not be here writing these messages. I would simply like to avoid upsetting it any further.

It is not really a matter of upsetting it. Without confronting it, you will never know what it wants.

If talking didn't hurt, there are other methods.

I'm sure you've already made this conclusion, but I'm not quite... Accustomed to being put in such situations. I'll try to prepare to come at it with a different approach if this happens again...

If you intend to do so, make certain you don't do it alone. If the ghost does prove to be hostile, you'll want to be equally prepared.
Perhaps you are unaccustomed to situations such as this.
But situations are rarely forgiving. You can learn from this.

There are a number of fellow guests here who are experienced in dealing with ghosts or otherwise magical presences. I could make introductions for you all, if that would be to your liking.

For the most part...
There was some nonsense with some kind of malevolent force on one of the other floors.
I'm still uncertain as to how people can relax here.

No. She was solid.
Shaped like a human, but did not possess any sort of frailty and was capable of feats most humans could not perform. She resided on the 13th floor.
One could not escape without appeasing her.

Why is this the first that I've heard of this... How was such an entity appeased?

And most importantly: are you alright, Ser Barghest?

I'm fine.
The way to appease this creature was unusual, to say the slightest. You had to clasp another's hand and either dance or serenade it.

I'm fine. I would prefer to know what threats this place holds sooner rather than later.

I know that this was beyond my control. I simply mean that I wish such a thing had not happened to you, Ser Barghest...

As for assessing threats... Perhaps that would be a worthwhile topic to bring up on this 'server' as well. I would not be surprised if our other fellow guests have encountered other threats on other floors and such.
