Figure some of you might be wondering what the fuck happened to the espresso machine.

Well, I like at least one of you, so I’m willing to share the scoop.

Astarion the Victorian orphan trapped in a grown man’s body and some blond guy I haven’t seen around before broke the damn thing trying to lift it. Literally and figuratively. Dropped it a few feet from the door in the middle of grand theft bean.

I gathered anyone missing their fix would appreciate the heads up. You see Astarion or that tentacle-wielding lug around, be sure to thank em for making mornings more interesting. I’d like to personally extend my thanks to blondie, too, so if you know who around here can do that kind of kraken shit, don't be shy.

And if you think they’re just gonna replace the machine, you’re dead wrong. Bennet put up a cute little “pardon our mess” card, so we’re SOL. What's a girl to do?

I may have no qualms towards Winter but you do not mess with those who need fresh espresso. He and Astarion need to face the consequences of their actions.

But also make no mistake, she is so damn tired and annoyed about this!! And will be giving Winter a talking to in-person, but: ]

We'll have to hunt down other cafes in this hotel.
But it's inconvenient and I wanted to make my own. That's the whole point of the communal machine.

There's one in particular that Mister Satoru and I found that I've been visiting. It's where I was able to try espresso for the first time, too. And one other... I can compile a list and send it.

Barring that, I don't mind requesting a few supplies from Mr. Bennet to make coffee for everyone, too. It won't be the same as espresso, but the method makes a good pot of morning potion well enough!

Well, I do have a method of making an acceptable cup of coffee using the instant coffee granules.

But it just won't be the same as a freshly made espresso...

Instant coffee?

I'd keep your expectations low.

It's coffee you pour hot water or hot milk over so that it dissolves and you have an instant cup of coffee.

However, the taste is usually not on par with freshly made coffee or espresso and can be poorer as a result. If you're able to work around it or buy a higher quality product, it isn't the worst thing in the world.

That does sound awfully convenient... But in my opinion, part of drinking coffee is preparing it.

But still! I would be willing to try this, given our circumstances.

I am thinking of one preparation method but it wouldn't be a hot drink.

Then again I like to have iced coffee more than hot coffee even on cold mornings but that could be attributed to the fact I lived in a dry and warm location where it doesn't snow in the winter.

[ now hang on, Amelia... First, instantaneous coffee, and now... cold coffee!? She really is a witch, with morning potion as her brew of choice... ]

I've never had cold coffee before...

I'll have to make sure you become well acquainted with that facet of coffee culture then.

I've had some rather fine cafe drinks served by a fellow witch, a rather young one around your age who also owns and runs her own business. Every now and then she and her staff come up with very delicious coffees and teas to add to their menu.

[God, if only she could message Berna to message her granddaughter to send an espresso machine...]

They don't happen to have a franchised location here, do they?

Unfortunately, they are not franchised. As I've implied the owner is young and that cafe is shaped by her own magic but she has ways to go.

But I do hope you have a chance to visit someday. It's one of the most welcoming and comforting places you'll ever be in.
