✨ two truths and a lie!

Well well, would you look at that? The place didn’t burn itself down while I was gone, though not for lack of trying. Or so I’ve been told.

Anyway, it looks like we’ve acquired some new faces in the last month. In the grand tradition of the hotel forcing us to get to know one another, why don’t we play a little game?

Is everyone familiar with β€œtwo truths and a lie”? It’s simple enough. List three things about yourself, one of which is not true. Others must guess which is the lie.

Here, I’ll go first.

[ TL;DR - We’re playing two truths and a lie now! Thread hop around and tag each other! Winter will be hopping around to play too, but if folks just want to chat with him now that he’s back that is also fine! ]

Another guess for the third, but I'm quite curious about the first.

My, I must not terribly seem like an Abigail...
I'm afraid that the third is one of the truths.

Now, that leaves you with deciding whether the first is a truth or a lie.

You certainly don't! May I ask what inspired the change to Giselle, in that case?

I'm going to guess the first is the truth. Somehow, I wouldn't be surprised to hear you'd accomplished such a thing.

Hehe.... what ever inspired it?

It is a misdirection of sorts, meant in jest, Gale.
"Abigail" was once the term used for maids, based on the name of a servant in a popular work of fiction at the time.
Though it was a time long since past.

You have guessed correctly on the first, however.

I see! I've never heard the term before, but delighted to have a bit of a glimpse into your own world's culture. A clever misdirection, indeed!

I had a feeling there was something a touch magical about you, though I'm curious as to what means you might have used.

Perhaps. Although, it seems the name 'Abigail' does not suit me at all, or this misdirection may have gone on for quite a bit longer...
No matter.

As for the means, only patience and daily practice were required.
He was eager to learn, despite his nature.
Can you believe that?

You know, I believe I can. Anyone with the desire to learn can surely do so with enough time and effort. Good for him! What manner of creature was he?

He had sharp teeth, claws... and a ravenous hunger for flesh. He was a creature which thrilled in hunting. [ . don't worry about it ]
He called himself a 'Bestia.'

In due time, he also learned table manners and etiquette, among other things.
And though only the language seemed to stick long term... I rather enjoyed our lessons.
You seem the type who enjoys teaching others as well, Gale.

[This guy sounds like he could be hanging out on any corner in Faerun, honestly. Gale is absolutely picturing a gnoll.]

Table manners and etiquette, even! He must have been quite dedicated, and of course such an effort speaks very highly of you, as well. Not everyone is called to teaching, especially not in such unique circumstances.

I used to think myself too impatient with others to teach; I often found myself frustrated when fellow scholars could not keep up, but my perspective has shifted a bit over time. I do very much enjoy and support the sharing of knowledge of all kinds, at the very least.

Oh? I have yet to see this 'impatient' side you speak of.
In fact, I find it a bit difficult to imagine.

Are there few as learned in magic as you, then?

[ could that be the source of his frustration... he does seem pretty scholarly!! ]

I've gained a bit more patience in recent years than I once had, after a bit of necessary humbling.

That said, it is not merely idle bragging to say that I am a wizard of considerable acclaim and accomplishment. Though circumstances have diminished the greatest of my powers, they have done nothing to alter the knowledge gained as a result of all my years of learning.

[TL;DR: Yes, there are few as learned as him.]

[ not the tldr help?? ]

My, how wonderful. Perhaps I may witness these powers one day...
Might you show me your favorite among them, when you have a chance?
Or tell me about what you still yearn to know?

Knowledge of magic is hardly so wide, in my realm.
And practitioners of it have a... different sort of reputation, you might say, than the one I imagine you claim title to.
