Well well, would you look at that? The place didn’t burn itself down while I was gone, though not for lack of trying. Or so I’ve been told.

Anyway, it looks like we’ve acquired some new faces in the last month. In the grand tradition of the hotel forcing us to get to know one another, why don’t we play a little game?

Is everyone familiar with “two truths and a lie”? It’s simple enough. List three things about yourself, one of which is not true. Others must guess which is the lie.

Here, I’ll go first.

Consider it the latter, then. It certainly isn't a tattoo that I got from a bout of spontaneity.... It is a tattoo that bears a spell in its ink. For protection in case of emergencies.

You know, that makes sense considering what I know of your world. Of course spells would be woven into things like tattoos, especially for emergency. It's more sensible than getting a tattoo would be in our world.

Perhaps a similar thing might be accomplished with your sorcery or cursed energy?

In any case, now you know. It was quite a painful ordeal, I'll have you know... But my cousin was the one who gave it to me, which I suppose was some small comfort.

I think so, but that would take a type of innovative brain that I don't necessarily possess. Gojo-san may be able to figure it out though.

I'm sorry to hear that. The familiarity of family must definitely be a comfort. Does it still hurt or was it just the initial pain?

No, it doesn't hurt anymore, thankfully. Otherwise I might say it wasn't worth the trouble, as I very rarely face dangers at our inn.

It's been useful sometimes, though. When tavern brawls get too rowdy.

What exactly does it do then? A protective armor, maybe?

Something like that, yes! The the spell triggers a barrier.

Ohh, I see. Keeps you safe and others out.

To an extent. It doesn't nullify injury or anything like that, but it does make it more difficult for any blows to find purchase.

That's still quite a useful spell though I hope you find little reason to use it here.
