This is Amelia Steinbeck, a guest at the Hotel Caelum, and resident of Room 700.

It appears that books are a universal constant and so I am bestowing an open invitation to other guests who are interested in discussing fiction and nonfiction so that we can bridge cultural gaps and gain further understanding of other cultures and customs through the medium of literature.

Here is a sample of what we'll be reading to discuss as a group. I am open to other suggestions and the structure will be loose; you need not read these if you have a book you'd like to read silently during and after discussions.

You're more than welcome to join and listen. Some book club circles have more adamant structures but seeing as how this is a new concept or experience for individuals from other worlds, I wouldn't want to apply any pressure to speak up when listening is just as important.

Then, I would gladly accept the opportunity. I admit I have not had much chance in life to read fiction over nonfiction, but I certainly wouldn't be averse to broadening my horizons.

Also, for quick reference, do you prefer coffee or tea? Salty or sweet snacks? Another guest is helping me with this discussion and we want it to be as inviting as possible. That's why we're including refreshments.

I favour tea, though that may be because I grew up on it and haven't had much experience with coffee. I have no particular preference between salty or sweet.

Tea might be best then. I prefer coffee when I read in the mornings anyway. Duly noted about your other preferences.

I think there might be snacks you've never tried before.

Most likely. Though my travels have helped to rectify this, my experience with other cultures' food has been somewhat lacking, I fear.

I think during your stay here, you should be able to try a variety of cuisines.

Even in my world, where I lived, I had the privilege of having access to many kinds of foods from other cultures. I hope you'll be able to enjoy them here too.

Yes, it sounds like it'll be nice. Trade wasn't as plentiful as it could be in my homeland due to war, so the lack of access was certainly due more to circumstance than intent.

Oh, is this an ongoing or a war of recent memory?
If it's too much, please do not feel pressured to answer.
I often stumble but I understand everyone is coming in from different circumstances based on their world's current state.

There is no pressure. Hinoeuma is unfortunately rather well-known for being in constant conflict throughout history, including at present. Along with being somewhat isolated in a desert, it makes for a risky journey for any merchant.

I hope you've had some good rest so far. It must be disorienting to be in a hotel like this after having such a conflict as part of your life.

It's certainly an abundance of free time I'm not used to.

How are you spending your days Hikari? I know it hasn't been that long since most of us checked in but I am curious how you've taken to the accomodations.

I have spent the days training.

[is that what he'd been doing everyday even before the hotel? possibly. sometimes you have little concept of relaxing........]

I see. Sword training? Or just full-body exercise overall?

[Just slightly Concerned but exercise is good, right?]

Primarily swordsmanship, yes. It is unwise to miss a day of practice.

Is there someone else you've met that may be versed in swordsmanship? It seems like training would become stagnant if you don't have someone to spar with.

Your words aren't untrue, although there is always merit in practicing forms even without a partner. With that said, I have not yet encountered anyone who told me that they wield the blade.

You could also make an ask in this chatting platform to see who knows how to wield a sword or something similar. The employees may know something or someone seeing as how there's a wide variety of services and floors here.

Apologies, I didn't finish my sentence. I was about to say there should be a proper floor for training. Have you already found one or sought one out?

I have found an empty space to practice, yes. It has been some years since I stepped into a proper training hall to begin with, so I don't require anything special to work with.

If you don't mind me asking, what were you occupied with when you were in your world?

For a few years, I helped to oversee matters in my hometown. I spent most of my hours on the streets or out in the open.

As of recent months, I have been traveling, so I am on the road more often than not.

Were you travelling alone? It sounds like being on the move would be tiring if that was the case.

No, I've gathered traveling companions since setting off, and they have become dear friends to me.
