Well well, would you look at that? The place didn’t burn itself down while I was gone, though not for lack of trying. Or so I’ve been told.

Anyway, it looks like we’ve acquired some new faces in the last month. In the grand tradition of the hotel forcing us to get to know one another, why don’t we play a little game?

Is everyone familiar with β€œtwo truths and a lie”? It’s simple enough. List three things about yourself, one of which is not true. Others must guess which is the lie.

Here, I’ll go first.

[ TL;DR - We’re playing two truths and a lie now! Thread hop around and tag each other! Winter will be hopping around to play too, but if folks just want to chat with him now that he’s back that is also fine! ]

I'm not certain, but given that we all come from different places, it would make sense to me that you would be able to read it in whatever language you're most comfortable with. Our book club's organizer may be an English teacher, but I'm sure she would make allowances for such things.

Then Japanese it is for me. Do you have any similar stories to Dracula in your world? Famous vampire, famous vampire hunter, that sort of thing.

Well, there's the legend of Strahd, though depending on who you ask, that tale is rooted very deeply in the truth. Vampires are quite real where I come from, as it so happens.

That must be disconcerting, for it to be so close to real that you can't tell what's fact and what's fiction.

I've met a vampire here recently. He seemed pleasant enough.

That's a very good word for it, though such works are often still worth reading, whether it be for entertainment or educational value.

We do have some among us! Nico, if I had to guess?

[The other he knows of isn't quite so forthcoming about it...]

Perhaps I will look in the library next for a book on this Strahd. I'm currently reading a book on the history of Waterdeep, though like we've said before it might not be your Waterdeep but a Waterdeep.

Yes, indeed it was Nico-san. He was quite affable.

Really! How are you finding the history of our fine City of Splendors, may I ask? Entertaining, I hope! I would be happy to answer any questions you may have that the book may not cover.

Entertaining is definitely the word for it. It's interesting, reading a history of a place that exists in another realm. There are references to events I have no concept of and of Gods and monsters that don't exist for me. It's been a challenging but fun read all the same.

I would appreciate your answers, of course. I may come to you after I'm done the book.

I imagine that would be difficult to follow with so many foreign elements, but seeing as you seem to be a clever gentleman, I've no doubt you're managing well!

Consider me at your service, should you have need. Until then, do enjoy!

Thank you. Both for the praise and the offer. I look forward to it and the meal in the future. Until then, indeed.
