Well well, would you look at that? The place didn’t burn itself down while I was gone, though not for lack of trying. Or so I’ve been told.

Anyway, it looks like we’ve acquired some new faces in the last month. In the grand tradition of the hotel forcing us to get to know one another, why don’t we play a little game?

Is everyone familiar with β€œtwo truths and a lie”? It’s simple enough. List three things about yourself, one of which is not true. Others must guess which is the lie.

Here, I’ll go first.

[ TL;DR - We’re playing two truths and a lie now! Thread hop around and tag each other! Winter will be hopping around to play too, but if folks just want to chat with him now that he’s back that is also fine! ]

[ solid and reasonable plan ]

Y2K is complicated to explain. It has to do with the technology of our world and the problem when we went from the year 1999 to 2000. There was a belief that all the technology of our world would break because of the inability of it to process the new year correctly. I'm simplifying it a lot and I also was pretty young when it happened but in the end, nothing actually happened and everything moved on peacefully. But people were very worried about it.

Karaoke is a form of entertainment. People will get up on a stage or rent out a room with friends to perform songs together for fun. Think of when you sing along to a song a bard is singing, a bit like that.

[ BLESS YOU, NANAMIN... what a thorough explanation! ]

Oh. I truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of your explanation, Mr. Nanami. I suppose that's the most I can wrap my head around this 'Y2K,' but do you really think that Satoru could have stopped such a thing?

[ since he said he wasn't sure... ]

Also, how exactly is this "karaoke" different from simply singing along with a bard, then? Because it takes place on a stage or in a room...? That can happen with bards, too, though...

[ HE TRIES!!! Even if he is the Fun Sucker. ]

He would have been too young but I wouldn't put it past him to be involved in some capacity, unfortunately. Even at 10 years old.

And well, the music involved is not live music but recordings. You've heard audio coming from the devices we've been given, yes? Sometimes the audio can be saved and listened to later. Imagine saving a bard's music to be able to listen to later and then being able to choose whichever song you enjoy the most to listen to whenever you want. Sorry if I'm being too simplistic in my explanations, I'm not sure your level of familiarity.

[ Even at 10 years old?? Sweet Seldarine... ]

Really...?

Anyhow, you needn't apologize for that, Mr. Nanami. I do appreciate the simplified explanations. I'm growing more and more familiar with these devices, thankfully, so I think I'm starting to understand karaoke. It sounds to me like singing along to a bard's song, but without the bard there, by way of using a recording.

Like singing along to a record.

[ that man gets UP to STUFF. ]

His birth was a significant event in our world. He's been involved in a variety of things as a result.

[ SIGH........ ]

But yes, you have it exactly. Singing along to a record is precisely it. Doing so with friends enhances the experience. That's karaoke.

Gods. It's even more surreal to hear that said from the perspective of someone else who lived in your world.

[ like. it's one thing if Gojo himself, with all of his bravado and attitude, talks about how his birth was a major event. but to hear it from someone else... ]

I suppose I can see the appeal of it... But surely such a thing was invented well before Satoru's birth?

[ LOOK.... HE'S SORRY... he thinks gojo is stupid but also he is The Strongest so........ ]

I can imagine. [ And as if reading her mind: ] It's one thing for him to say it, another for others to acknowledge. At the very least know that I mean it from a factual perspective, not to compliment him.

And yes, he is lying about that. He did not invent karaoke.

Haha. Out of curiosity, is there anything you would compliment him for? And it can't be his strength.

[ sumina is forgetting that gojo can see these and she will probably regret it. ]

[ UGHHHHHH. COMPLIMENTING GOJO. IN PUBLIC. THIS IS HORRIBLE.

But if there's one thing he doesn't mind Gojo seeing it's β€” ]

He loves his students very much. It's an admirable trait.

Yes, I realized that too. I haven't said anything I wouldn't say to his face, at least.

[ he's always on the alert for gojo ]
